⛪ Religion Replaced

Last month in July 2024 I had a prophetic dream concerning future circumstances in England. Once again, the revelation came out of the blue, and the associated topics had not been on my thoughts, nor in my prayers. Here is the entry as I wrote it in my journal:

💭Dream · July 31st 2024 · Mark-Alexander

I was sitting down outside with some friends in the town or city I lived in at the time. There was a very tall skyscraper that towered above in the distance. It had ornate architecture with intricate decorative flourishes and embellishments. It was some kind of religious building. As I was sat down on the ground talking with my friends, I noticed that a small part of the building started crumbling away. First in one area of the building, then in another. I was telling my friends but they didn’t seem to notice or pay attention. Then suddenly a large piece of building started falling down to the earth, and everyone was looking up at it in disbelief. Then bit by bit, other chunks of debris began plummeting, until the whole building had been completely demolished. We couldn’t believe our eyes. It was some kind of religious institution that had been there for a long time, and now it was gone. It felt like watching the Twin Towers fall.

Then almost immeditely after, another building was being built in its place. It was straight and simple with streamlined architecture. It was some kind of financial building. We were being told by the Authority that was doing this, that essentially, religion as an institution was being replaced by financial institutions.

After that, the ground was crumbling beneath us. I was commenting on what was taking place, saying that so many changes were being made. Me and my friends quickly tried to move before the ground collapsed underneath us. My brother was stuck and I feared he would fall down and be lost, so I grabbed him and yanked him up to safety. We moved out of the way and onto a road ahead of us.

Then we were by some futuristic cars. A little girl from our group got into one of the cars. There seemed to be some robots nearby watching her, but she evaded them. I don’t know why she got into the car, but as we watched, it seemed like they were unsafe. Something was happening, like the interior began catching fire, and the girl was killed. An Asian man who was part our group was the girl's father and began wailing in grief.

What follows are my Prophetic Musings on the dream:

Firstly, the AI-generated image doesn't quite do justice to the size of the skyscraper. It was a much taller tower in the dream. And I should mention that I could see small pink glowing areas in the parts of the building that were crumbling. It was a brighter pink than depicted in the image, similar to the colour 'hot pink'. I'm not sure if the pink carries a specific meaning, or if it was just there to convey how the situation was being 'highlighted' to me. Finally, the skyscraper was likely a Christian building, as its architecture featured elements reminiscent of the Gothic or Baroque style, commonly seen in cathedrals across the UK, and buildings like Westminster Abbey.

In the dream, when I first drew attention to the parts of the building that were breaking away, my friends weren't listening. It was like they didn't care or think it was important enough to look closely. However, as the destruction became undeniably apparent, everyone was shocked at the magnitude of what was occurring. It was a big deal. This massive and prominent structure, representing the institution of religion, had dominated the landscape for centuries. Yet before our eyes, it was being razed to the ground and quickly superseded.

I have two main theories on the interpretation of the dream. One is that the building being demolished represents an actual building in real life. The other is that the skyscraper symbolizes Religion in England generally. I'm going to be completely honest: I don't understand what an 'institution' is exactly, especially in this context. The meaning here seems ambiguous to me, so I'm struggling to settle on one interpretation.

In the dream, as I beheld such an impressive tower falling down, it reminded me of watching the World Trade Center being reduced to rubble. Does the building in the dream, therefore, represent a similarly significant structure in the UK that will cause us heartache as it is brought down to the ground? Perhaps something emblematic of our national or Christian identity? It could be some kind of historical and beautiful place of worship, whose architecture is so irreplaceable that no attempt is even made to rebuild it; so a financial building takes its place. If that is indeed the correct interpretation, then a potential candidate for the skyscraper could be St Paul's Cathedral in London. My reasoning being that it is an iconic structure and its presence is imposing; towering above other buildings in the area. Add to this that the London Stock Exchange is in close proximity. If the cathedral were to disappear somehow, I could see the authorities in London raising up a financial building in its stead. It would be in keeping with the surrounding financial complex, after all. But…this is all conjecture, so let's move on to my second theory.

Another possible interpretation is that the skyscraper symbolizes religion in England/UK, and the meaning is something like: Religion will become obsolete in society. The building's historic architecture might represent a former time when religion played a larger role in the life of the population; underpinning our customs, laws, royal ceremonies and community life generally. Today, Britain is increasingly atheistic and congregations are dwindling, leading to many people questioning the relevance of religion and its place in the heart of the nation. Maybe a divorce from the state religion of Christianity will take place, in order to officially secularize the country.

But if we do suppose that the tower in the dream represents Religion, why would Finance in particular take its place? What does that even look like? How do financial institutions rise to prominence in place of religion? And why would they? It makes me think there is a different way to interpret the dream…

As far as I know, financial institutions are things like Banks. So perhaps, instead of one major demolition event, the tower coming down is symbolic of many religious buildings being torn down across the country. Maybe as the people of England identify less with Christianity, churches become vacant and therefore defunct. Financial institutions could purchase the land or buildings and convert them into financial centres. Or, there will be a legal ruling which revokes the protected status of churches and cathedrals, paving the way for them to be demolished completely, for the sake of new building developments. What the financial institutions will actually be, I don't know, because surely Banks are closing down and not being built. But I’m sure the clarity of hindsight will explain everything when the prophecy begins to come to pass. Until then, I will let the reader draw their own conclusions.

The last part of the dream, with the futuristic cars, occurs after we move onto the road ahead. It is a picture of the kind of future we are moving towards. The cars symbolize the vehicles of the future. Specifically, they could be driverless cars, which may explain why a little girl would get into one alone. These are an emerging technology, and there are already ongoing discussions surrounding the safety of self-driving vehicles. Does this poor girl become a casualty of machine error due to this risky technology, or is something else happening here? And why are Robots watching her? It sounds very 'science-fiction' but in a decade or two, in my view at least, it is inevitable that robots will have a more prevalent role in society. Currently they are a novelty, cropping up in restaurants in certain countries, serving people their sushi or kimchi. It's not too difficult, however, to envision a time when these machines are entrusted with roles such as community policing.

The fact that the dream ends with a tragedy suggests to me that the Holy Spirit is warning of new hazards and dangers that will become a part of everyday life in the future. We live in a rapidly changing nation and world, and it can make us feel like the ground is crumbling beneath us. The prophecy warns of even more change ahead. In response to this, I think we need to become malleable, learning to adjust and adapt as new and unseen things come into view. I am a believer of getting to grips with technology before, and as, it manifests. I am always working to stay up-to-date so that I can remain informed and aware, to the degree that I am able.

It is interesting how, in the dream it was the Authorities who were announcing the replacement of the institution of religion. As we know from the Bible, authority in the land is established by God. Therefore, rather than obstinately resisting this transition, it is my conviction that we should accept it as a natural progression in the evolution of the nation. The Law of Moses was always considered good and holy in its time. It was permanent or ‘everlasting’; that is, until the revelation of righteousness by faith made it redundant and exposed its flaws. Here was something profoundly sacred, yet all it could minister was death. What if God, in a similar manner, is bringing a kind of national ‘dispensation’ of religion to a close for us, having fulfilled its purpose in his grand scheme. Some may argue that the institutional church in England has become full of dusts and demons anyway, and so a change is not unwelcome. Perhaps it is due time for the Priests to lay aside their robes in order to give way to the Stewards of God; those faithful managers of the wealth and resources of the kingdom.

The dream is a snapshot of the future. Major transformation is coming. Religion will decrease in stature and lose its prominence and place in society. Financial institutions will take over instead. There will be futuristic cars, and robots that monitor us. How very dystopian. First the cracks will appear, then comes the crumbling, until ultimately the religious institution will be razed down to ground zero.

I’m curious to know how this situation is connected to the previous dream about England being destroyed. The timing of these things is not always easy to understand. Still, this most recent prophecy speaks of strong transmutational currents blowing upon our nation, and we can either dig our heels into the ground, or ride upon the air. I choose to be like the Olympic sailor who leans into the winds of change, circumspectly navigating the everchanging seas of his course. Rather than being intimidated by the coming transition, when all these things enter into the present, let us remain steadfast in Christ, knowing that the road ahead is prepared by the Lord who orders our steps.

Religion will falter and crumble, but those who put their faith in Jesus Christ have an unshakeable structure built on a solid foundation, designed and built for an eternity. The true church is made of lively stones and seated in heavenly places. Yes, we are the everlasting Skyscrapers of God.
